Application

 

The percolation method is a continuous extraction process in which fresh solvent is continuously added to the top of the medicinal material powder bed, percolating downward through the material and exiting from the bottom outlet. As the solvent flows through the powder layer, it penetrates the material, dissolves soluble constituents, and gradually becomes concentrated. Due to gravity and density differences, the enriched solution moves downward and is displaced by fresh or less concentrated solvent from above, maintaining a consistent concentration gradient. This continuous renewal of solvent enhances natural diffusion, resulting in more efficient and thorough extraction compared to static immersion methods.

The percolation method is a dynamic extraction process in which fresh solvent is continuously fed onto the medicinal material powder, allowing the resulting extract to percolate downward and exit from the bottom outlet.

As the solvent penetrates the cellular structure of the material, it dissolves soluble components, gradually increasing in concentration and density, which causes it to move downward through the powder bed.

This downward flow displaces the upper layer of solvent or dilute solution, establishing a consistent concentration gradient. The maintained gradient enhances natural diffusion, resulting in more efficient extraction than static immersion methods, while also offering safer operational conditions.
